Healing Children’s Trauma
I offer hope and healing after trauma and specialize in working with younger children. As a Nationally Certified Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) therapist, I focus on providing this evidence-based treatment to help children heal from their traumas. TF-CBT is an eight-component treatment that builds skills to successfully process trauma, overcome trauma-related symptoms, and build resiliency skills. It can be completed in as little as eight sessions, but is not limited in time, rather focusing on mastering each of the eight components. Therefore, the length of treatment is dependent on the individual needs and factors of each client. Throughout the treatment, there will be times where I meet with parent(s) one-on-one, individually with clients, and together with parent(s) and child. Decades of research has built TF-CBT, which has been found to significantly reduce trauma-related symptoms children and adolescents of all ages.
Play is an important part of healing, especially for younger children, who tend to processes their lives through play. I therefore incorporate play into my treatment with my younger clients for a fun, engaging, and nonthreatening experience. I tailor treatment for each child’s needs, whether to accomodate their age, neurodivergence, or developmental delays. It brings me joy to walk with families in their journey of healing.
